A striking Mid-20th-century, Modernist ring, modeled in 18k gold, by thewell-lovedFinnish designer Bjrn Weckstrm, for Lapponia.Weckstrm's jewelry is both earthy and intellectual— this design is called Sun Temple. The ring’s sculptural head closely resembles the chemical element bismuth, which occurs in these amazing stair-step forms; it also calls to mind the ruins of the grand Mayan temples that give the design its name.This yellow gold bismuth temple is accented with three, brilliant-cut, white diamonds, which rest among its steps in long, square-faced, white gold tubes. Theflat wire ring shank is slender and uniform. This ring bears a full series of Finnish hallmarks and dates to the year 1975.
